6th Annual Luncheon

CBDNK February 10, 2005

Women to Women of Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois’ held its sixth annual luncheon on Sunday, 27th of Shvat, February 6th. More than eighty ladies from throughout Illinois gathered at Lubavitch Chabad of Northbrook for an afternoon of inspiration and celebration.

The program began with emcee Mrs. Ruth Altschul encouraging everyone to participate in the any or all of the four weekly classes in maamarim, Timely Torah Topics, Tanya and Parsha, the Rosh Chodesh farbrengens and Kosher Cuisine a monthly cooking class taught by area chefs. Mrs. Altschul emphasized that beyond the information and scrumptious recipes each Women to Women program offers warmth and spiritual stimulation.

Mrs. Chaya Epstein, director of Women to Women, welcomed everyone and shared a dvar Torah and spoke about the growth of Women to Women. Mrs. Debbie Dobkin highlighted the great success of The Sari Snow Children’s Book Fund. Named for Sari Snow, a young mother and Women to Women participant who passed away, this fund has distributed more than 100 Jewish books to hospitalized children in multiple area hospitals.

The women surprised Mrs. Epstein with a silver Shabbos candle lighter and hand painted serving bowl as a token of their appreciation for all the work she does. The women then enjoyed the first course of their gourmet lunch as they browsed the Kosher Cuisine cookbook with recipes culled from the monthly cooking class published in honor of the Luncheon.

Mrs. Tzivia Moscowitz, a regular attendee at many of the programs, shared her personal story and appreciation for all that Women to Women does throughout the year. As the women chatted they perused the wide selection of class tapes offered by Women to Women and many purchased sets of the lectures to review what they have studied.

Ms. Roxanne Perri, noted graphologist and keynote speaker then assumed the podium and commented that she was captivated by the assembly of women and programming of Women to Women. Ms. Perri distributed booklets of handwritten notes from the Rebbe, RaMBaM, Arizal and other great tzadikim and wove her analysis of their script into her explanation of how one’s soul is seen in one’s handwriting.

The participants were enthralled with Ms. Perri’s presentation and the overwhelming impact of the most successful Women to Women luncheon to date. After the program many lingered to help soak up the energy in the room and reflect on the great accomplishment of all those who participated in preparing this fantastic event.
