On Thursday, April 10th in preparation for Yud Aleph Nissan, the 101st birthday of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois sponsored a parade of 10 Mitzvah tanks disseminating Passover information and special hand-baked Matzo in preparation for the upcoming holiday.

When the parade caravan and police escort reached downtown Chicago a special honor was accorded them when they were greeted by the honorable Mayor Richard M. Daley. Mayor Daley expressed to Rabbi Daniel Moscowitz, the regional director of Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois, his appreciation for the work of Chabad throughout the city and conveyed his best wishes for a happy Passover.

"The world is witnessing a Miracle," explained Rabbi Moscowitz, "the fall of evil and the triumph of good. This parade is dedicated to spreading the message of the Lubavitcher Rebbe that the world is ready for drastic changes for good and all we have to do is add in acts of goodness and kindness. The devoted Rabbinic students who have spearheaded this event are sending the message that evil has run its course and good, G‑dliness, is the call of today."

A thirty-foot advertising truck lead the parade emblazoned with the message "Celebrate True Freedom!"

Shalom Meir Hecht, student coordinator of the event, explained: "The message of Passover is freedom; the opportunity to make the world a better place. As the President has said 'the outcome is certain and our resolve is strong,' that is our message, the outcome is the triumph of good over evil and with the Rebbe's blessing our commitment is resolute, and all of mankind together will witness this miraculous transformation!"

From downtown Chicago, the Tanks dispersed to points throughout the city and suburbs disseminating Passover information and supplies.
