Every Chabad center is a bit different, but there are some things you can come to expect: a welcoming rabbi, fellow Jews from a wide range of backgrounds, heartfelt prayers, and a holiday experience to get your Jewish year rolling in the right direction.

You don’t know anybody? That’s OK; the natives are friendly.

Worried that you don’t have membership? Most Chabad communities don’t have membership. If you’re a Member of the Tribe, you’re a member of Chabad.

PS: Rosh Hashanah begins on Sept. 11 before Sundown and runs through Sept. 13 in the evening. Yom Kippur starts before Sundown on Sept. 20 and ends the following nightfall. The most important time to show up is Sunday, the second day of Rosh Hashanah, when we’ll be blowing the shofar. Be there!

Of all the people who make Chabad.org go round, you may be less familiar with Rabbi Moshe Berghoff, our dedicated IT Director. Yet, his work, which he has been doing for almost three decades, is crucial to so much of what we love about Chabad.org.

He and his team make sure our online presence is accessible 24/6, our office staff have the tools they need, and that the goodness they produce and curate makes it to you reliably, securely and quickly.

This week, however, Moshe is away from his desk. He is sitting shiva after the untimely passing of his dear father, Mr. Daniel Berghoff, a stalwart of the Chabad community in S. Monica and more recently S. Diego, California.

Daniel Berghoff passed away at the age of 71 this past Thursday, 16 Av 5786 (July 30, 2026). He is survived by his nine children: Moshe Berghoff, Shaina Shapiro, Yocheved Berghoff, Aaron Berghoff, Nechama Chernotsky, Yehudis Davidson, Michal Silverstein, Yosef Berghoff, and Benny Berghoff.

We have dedicated this week’s Torah study on Chabad.org in the merit of R. Daniel Baruch ben R. Yaakov. May G‑d comfort the Berghoff family “among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.”
