Mayor Visits Shliach on his Birthday!

Chicago Mayor, The Honorable Richard M. Daley, was a surprise guest at a birthday party Farbrengen for Rabbi Meir Chai Benhiyoun, Shliach of the Rebbe in Downtown Chicago.

The celebration which took place last Tuesday night, Rosh Chodesh Adar, in honor of Rabbi Benhiyoun's 50th birthday at the Chabad House in Goldcoast section of Downtown Chicago, was graced by the presence of many of the Rebbe's shluchim, community members and the Mayor of Chicago himself, Mayor Richard M. Daley.

In the midst of the festive atmosphere, the Mayor reiterated his support for the efforts to build a Chabad Center for Jewish Life in the lucrative downtown location at 111 West Chestnut.

The Mayor continued to wholeheartedly thank the Rabbi Benhiyoun for everything he is doing for the City of Chicago “He is a truly devoted Rabbi, not only to his own congregation but to all the people of the City of Chicago.
